In one of the most spoilerific marketing moves ever, Marvel have released a teaser trailer for The Avengers… which basically gives away the end of Captain America: The First Avenger. Which has only been released in the UK for a day or so. What the huh?
While not a huge spoiler for anyone familiar with the character, for those wishing to watch Captain America spoiler-free, either fast-forward the clip 35 seconds in (which takes you to the non-cap, Avengers bit), or avoid altogether. Anyway, here it is:
For those who watched the second half, it’s definitely a nice snippet of brief Marvely-goodness, but still the question begs: why? Even in the US the movie hasn’t been out long, while surely it’s way too early for any get-folk-to-want-to-see-the-movie footage regardless. So again, you have to ask why? Plus, as mentioned, it sort of spoils the ending of a movie that most people haven’t even seen yet.
As well as the ones above, here are some non-spoiler-y pictures of the avenging-gang from the trailer. This writer’s favourite of the bunch? Our first look of Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner. He looks perfect. As does the tweed-ish jacket.
