A new trailer for The Hobbit has been released, as you can probably see above. Without going into too much detail, it looks like largely more of the same – striking shots, impressively-realised fantasy, thrilling moments – which is absolutely fine with this writer. All the old guard look like they’ve never been away (Ian McKellan, Andy Serkis, Hugo Weaving, Cate Blanchett), but the new faces look particularly good too (Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage). To be honest, part of me is worried that it might feel a little like we’ve been-there-done-that, but only time will tell.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will be with us on December 14th, The Desolation Of Smaug follows on December 13th 2013, and There And Back Again finishes off the new trilogy in July 2014.
