The first full-length trailer for Skyfall has just suaved its way online – and it looks great. More of a storyline is evident here than in the similar trailer which premiered before The Dark Knight Rises (which was very action-heavy), and there’s also added scope that it will do more than just give Bond another disposable adventure.
Ben Wishaw’s Q enjoys some nice chemistry with Craig (superb, as always), but most interesting is the first appearance of Javier Bardem’s until-now-unseen villain. Well, that, and the fact that Ralph Fiennes’ surely sinister colleague of M is looking like a great fit for this Bond universe. Sam Mendes really does have an eye for striking visual choices (my guess is that Bond will get shot off the train in the pre-credits bit and him sinking into the water will kick-start the credits music), and the moment where Bond lands on a crumbling train is sublime. Don’t let me down Sam.
Skyfall hits our screens on October 26th.
