So the first official slice of footage for next year’s Superman reboot – the perfectly named Man Of Steel – has soared online, and, well, it is certainly interesting. While we don’t see much that doesn’t involve waves, it’s an impressively low-key and haunting teaser which effectively promises to show us a chapter of Kal El’s story (him finding himself out in the world) that we haven’t seen before. Plus, the use of Howard Shore’s Lord Of The Rings score is perfect.
Now, while I still have my doubt that Zack Synder can deliver the heart and soul necessary, there’s no doubt in my mind that this film is going to look absolutely amazing. As 300 and Watchmen proved, the man can bring a graphic novel to life beautifully. Plus, while I’m still not sold on some of the casting decisions, most look spot on. Anyway, the first teaser (above) features voiceover from Kevin Costner as Pa Kent (sold) and the other (below) features Russell Crowe as Jor-El (not sold). Henry Cavill, meanwhile, is nothing short of perfection. So, Mr Synder, if you are going to continue to progressively get my hopes up for this, you better deliver.
