So after months of posters, on-set photos and the recent six-minute IMAX-only prologue, the much-anticipated first full-length trailer for Chris Nolan’s Dark Knight Rises is finally with us. To borrow the words of Quantum Leap’s Sam Beckett, Oh boy…
The start is a tad jarring in that’s it’s probably not what you expect from Nolan’s Batman (a shot in the broad daylight), but Nolan has stated his desire to take the Caped Crusader out of the shadows more this time around. Soon Hans Zimmer’s familiar score kicks in and it’s clear that the British helmer is going to finish the series in the style, and do so by admirably finishing the story off – not just trying to go bigger and expand things.
Okay, so the Bat-plane (or whatever you want to call it) might be a step too far for the realistic universe he’s created and we still haven’t seen enough of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman to convince, but let’s have faith. Of course, you’re going to get lots of naysayers automatically sitting in the corner saying “It will never be as good as The Dark Knight” (because it probably won’t), but Rises still looks like it’s going to deliver the best third instalment of a comic franchise yet. Even although that isn’t saying much.
The Dark Knight Rises will be with us on July 20th.

This is my most anticipated film, probably ever. More than The Phantom Menace. I think Nolan does a good job of putting the villain first.
I am very, very excited too Dave. Cannot wait. Although, I wouldn’t say Nolan necessarily puts the villain first, although Ledger’s Joker received a good amount of screentime and focus in The Dark Knight. Either way, it was a much better balance than Burton’s films which had Batman as a third wheel at times!
